The 6 Fitness Trends of 2018 - MOD Sportswear

Are you trying to get back in the fitness game? Ready to become a healthier you?

Tired of feeling sluggish, not your best, & all the other side effects of unhealthy living?

If you're ready to go, here's a quick reference of the latest fitness trends to help you decide what is going to help you get started on the right path. Keep in mind, you have to find something that's going to keep you motivated in the long run. If you hate it, look for something different. You're worth it!

1. HIIT - High-Intensity Interval Training

A HIIT training session involves bursts of maximum-effort, very intense work (typically about 20 to 90 seconds), followed by low-intensity recovery. The goal is to recover enough that you can go hard again on your next work interval. If you're a beginner, you might have longer rest intervals, or work intervals that are challenging but not at your maximum. This is NOT a fitness routine recommended to do every day. That can lead to overtraining & injuries.

2. Group Training

Group training usually consists of about 5-10 people under the direction of an instructor. They get together at specific times to workout as a group. It can be any fitness routine of your choosing, but the group will help you stay motivated AND accountable. It's much hard to explain why you're skipping class to 10 people than it is to just get up & go.

3. Low-Cost Fitness

Low-cost fitness is a way for you to save money on a gym membership, & equipment at home. There are a ton of resources out there available on YouTube with trainers who don't require any equipment to get a solid workout in. It may take some research on your end to find one that fits what you want, but it will keep money in your account so it's worth the time!

4. Body Weight Training

This is another low-cost way to get fit. It's resistance training that uses just your body weight to build muscle. People have been doing this for years! There's endless moves you can use, so there's no risk of boredom with this one.

5. Strength Training

Okay, confession, this is not a new trend. This one has been around for ages. But it's highly effective, & seems to stand the test of time. Weight-lifting helps strengthen your bones, fry fat, keep your heart healthy, & build hard muscle. We're a big fan of strength training.

6. Personal Training

Getting a personal trainer can be so beneficial for multiple different reasons. The first is that there's nothing like having someone in your corner pushing you, challenging you, & cheering you on to reach your goals. The second is that they can help teach you the proper way to exercise & recover. They may cost a little, but they are usually worth it.
