Introducing Breanna Hayman, also known as The Modest Baptist!

If you could describe your personality as a beverage, which beverage would it be, and why?
I would have to describe myself as Apple Cider ;) Sweet with a little bit of tang (sass)
How do you take your coffee or tea if you drink either?
So I love iced coffee but I can't drink it because it makes me sick unfortunately :( As far as tea goes I love fruity teas cold or hot.
What is one of your proudest accomplishments in life so far?
I had the wonderful opportunity to go to cosmetology school my junior and senior year of high school and now I have a skill that is very useful. It has helped me earn some side money at college and I've been able to be a blessing to my family and friends by doing their hair.
What inspired you to become an advocate for a healthy lifestyle?
I've always been a very active person. Playing sports has always been in my blood you could say. But growing up I was junk-food junkie. Because of my metabolism, it was never too much of a problem for me but now that I'm older and not participating in as many sports as when I was in school, I have come to realize how important what we put in our body, is. This body is the only one God gives us here on earth and it is the temple of the Holy Ghost. We need to be taking care of our bodies not only for all the practical purposes but out of the realization that God commands us to do so and we are His vessels.
Are you a Target gal? If so, what's the one department you can't stop splurging on?
I don't know if I would classify myself as a Target girl or not but the one department that I easily could blow money on is the Target Dollar Spot! Its the perfect place to find cute little gifts and craft ideas. I have to force myself not to go in there because otherwise I'll for sure walk out with some pointless thing that I really don't need.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
Okay, so this may sound terrible to every mother out there but I can't stand when kids suck their thumbs! BLECK! I know that's completely random but that slurping noise just makes my skin crawl for some reason lol. Plus it's very unsanitary and it isn't good for kids teeth.
How did you get into modest fashion?
Well, growing up in a Christian home it wasn't an option not to dress modestly. As I became an older teen I made the personal decision to dress modestly. I realized how important it is to God and how unimportant it was becoming to the rest of the world. After I graduated, several of my friends, who had been raised to dress modestly, totally dropped their dress standards and I became very discouraged. I knew that my decision to dress modestly was right but I couldn't help but feel alone in my stand and I wondered if there were other girls out there who felt the same. With that thought in mind, I came up with the idea to start my modest fashion account. I wanted it to be a platform where girls could see that they were not alone and where they could get inspiration on how to dress stylish while still being modest, and without breaking the bank. Even though I was trying to be an encouragement to others, I have been the one constantly encouraged by the account's followers. It's amazing the responses I get sometimes! Whenever I start to wonder if the account is actually fulfilling its purpose that's when I get a message or a comment from someone telling me how they take a stand in their dress and how they have been encouraged by my posts and it just restrengthens my resolve.
Who's always in your corner whenever you need encouragement?
My friends and family. I have an amazing group of people in my life that support me! I have been so blessed with these relationships; they mean so much to me.
What has been your favorite part of 2018 so far?
That's a tough one. Probably, all the changes it has brought in my life. It's definitely been a year of growth for me. There's been so many amazing opportunities and friendships that have came along my way this year, it's too hard to choose just one.
Do you have a favorite quote or slogan?
I have so many it is difficult to try to pick just one, but one of my top favorites is "Start each day with a grateful heart." If we (and by 'we' I mean me) were to truly wake up and start each day being completely grateful for life and all our blessings then it would affect our entire outlook and mood. By counting our blessings throughout the day, we can overcome life's inconveniences with a right spirit. It's hard to be negative and critical when you realize how much you have.
What's one piece of advice you would give yourself if you could have 5 years ago?
Develop your prayer life NOW! It is so incredibly crucial to everything in our lives. Get involved where you can because you'll never regret doing something good for someone. Stay close to the authority figures in your life. They want the best for you and they 9 times out of 10 know more than you do and are right when you don't think they are.
