At home but not alone.

At home but not alone. - MOD Sportswear

Today we are sharing some thoughtful "at home but not alone" tips!

From IG accounts, we are following recipes and books. This blog post is just a small act to help you feel apart of our world. We pray today you will feel encouraged and recharged!

We are all Instagram gals on the MOD team. The following accounts have been bringing us much joy!

Hannah: @savemycents, @officefails ,@enneagramvibes, @cubs

If you haven't been spending extra time in the kitchen, we would like to know your secret! Otherwise, we have a feeling you have probably made banana bread and spaghetti.

Hannah, not sure if the internet can handle this...
Fried Rice:
One bag of Trader Joes Veggie Fried Rice, add in some pre-cut carrots and peas, a ton of Siracha, a moderate amount of soy sauce. When you're done "cooking" the rice, properly fry two eggs - over easy, of course. Bowl > rice > eggs > more siracha and soy sauce. If you have some chives and sesame seeds laying around, toss them on top too. Enjoy!

Melissa,  I tweaked it to my taste.
Dalgona Coffee: 1.5 T of instant coffee, 1 T of sugar, 3 T of water. Whip until peaks form and pour over ice and milk.

Ashley, absolutely delicious!

Cake Cookies:
1 box Golden Butter cake mix
1 stick butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla (I use this generously)
1 8 oz. pkg cream cheese
Powdered sugar

Mix everything (except the powdered sugar) in the mixer. Make teaspoon size balls of dough and roll them in a bowl of powdered sugar. Bake on a cookie sheet (with parchment paper) for 10-11 mins on 350 (until the edges are JUST browning). Sprinkle powdered sugar on the top. Usually makes around 2 dozen or so.

, all of these are quick and simple!

Roast- Put a roast in the crockpot. Sprinkle a packet of dry Ranch seasoning on top. Place a stick of butter on top. Place 1/2 jar of jalapeños on top of that. Cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.
Shelf Cooking Pasta - whatever veggies and meat I have with any pasta :)
Tacos - season leftover meat with taco seasoning and create all kinds of fun tacos

Amy, listen, I make these and then my husband and hide them from ourselves. I once ate six muffins in one day I cannot lie.

Pumpkin Muffins:

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2 eggs
1 15 ounce can of pure pumpkin puree
1/2 cup of butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and place 12 paper liners or grease a muffin tin.
  2. Measure out the flour, sugars, baking soda, salt, and spices in a medium bowl and whisk together.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, pumpkin puree, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir together. Do not over mix, stir until everything is incorporated into the batter.
  5. It is helpful to use a large scoop (like an ice cream scoop.) They will be nearly full.
  6. Bake your muffins for 20-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out clean.

 Activities with Kids:

Hannah: With my nieces, making a video about the letter C was pretty epic. We also played iSpy over FaceTime. And of course, the unedited version of Baby Shark complete with motions.

Melissa: Crafts & baking together.

Ashley: Play outside or do puzzles.

Shelley: Let them be creative with playing. It is incredible the imaginative games my 4-year-old comes up with on her own. We love rocking on the front porch while she "cooks" with grass and weeds and colors the sidewalk with chalk.

What is helping you stayed structured?

Hannah: My Full Focus planner - really just focusing on the daily Big 3, *attempting* to join the morning prayer call on Zoom, taking daily walks, doing a "normal" grocery haul, using my Quarantine Projects list as an incentive to stay focused on work so I can treat myself to a fun project at the end of the day.

Amy: Brain Dumps, just getting everything written out on paper. Google Calendar, Asana, and setting alarms haha

Melissa: Reminding myself I am not the sum of my accomplishments during this pandemic. It is okay to relax, rest, grieve, organize your life, learn new skills & tackle projects - whatever works for you.

Ashley: My planner, getting up at the same time each day.

Shelley: My Full Focus Planner - I am still using it daily to be sure I'm doing what is important.

What are you using to help you stay spiritually focused?

HannahI join a morning prayer call on Zoom a few times a week. Obviously, I "attend" my church's virtual gatherings. I've been feeling so strongly that it's my personal responsibility to breed faith and not fear in my home and in my heart. I've been spending more time in His Word and using the Quizlet app to help me retain what I've read.

Amy: Right now, I am reading a chapter in a book, then any scriptures mentioned. I go and look them up in my Bible and journal for a while.

Melissa: You-version has some great devotional programs.

Ashley: Getting up early to read and pray.

Shelley: Daily Bible reading and journaling. I do this first thing in the morning because it has to be a priority.
